The laptop computer trade has gone from strength to strength in recent times. In fact demand is so big that taiwanese manufactures are forcasting component shortages already. It seems like once there are backlogs those will only increment because demand for laptops is not dipping at all. Brands are trying to order the technology cycles but that doesn’t hinder anyone from coming and improving things.
Increasing numbers of people are purchasing laptops for gaming as of late. These notebooks are also increasing in value because of the stiff competition faced from value laptops. The performance of gaming laptops has greatly improved and its really a feasible means of gaming. Some of the obstacles like heat and noise still are present to a point but hardly in the midrange laptops. The designs are also fairly thin. Speed of computers should always be a mile ahead of laptops but its still encouraging to see. I would not give it too long before we see ultra portable gaming laptops on the market.
I feel we are seeing an increased amount of start up business exclusively retailing custom built laptops. Normally branded components go into these laptops. By being able to choose exactly what you require you can even save cash in some cases. Let me voice it how it is. You possibly are not like the masses and so normal otebooks won’t do the job. For the hardcore consumers, custom laptops close the gap. The good news is that there are lots of resellers who do this and they offer great customer care too. This could be a major enticer to a few specialist markets.
Wow is a word that comes to mind when thinking of the future wave of laptop computers. This year it looks like inexpensive portables are the popular trend. Obviously this will be something staggering in 3rd world nations. If a brand manufacturers a notebook that has a big screen yet also lightweight at an affordable market price point I feel it could be a massive success. I reckon you could say these laptops are already around if you are ready to pay the price. I can think its not too long before we begin experiencing gaming laptops that weigh nothing. Even though laptop technology follows plans theres always going to be a product that changes all that.
In my 30 years of practice as a Virginia Workers’ Compensation Lawyer, I have had many claimants contact me and say my work or my supervisor is causing me mental stress. Many times these claimants have gone to a psychiatrist or a psychologist for treatment. Often, the impairment has become so severe they have been taken out of work. They want to know can they be compensated for their lost time through the Virginia Workers’ Compensation system. They say (1) my stress happened at work and (2) my doctors say I have lost time and incurred medical bills due to this stress. They say why cannot I be compensated under the workers’ compensation law?
The short answer is “NO” as a general rule mental stress is not compensable. Gradual infliction of mental stress by your work or by your supervisor is not an “accident” or a “disease” under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation law. As defined by the Workers’ Compensation Commission, an “accident” to be compensable must occur at a specific time and thus gradually occurring mental stress cannot qualify as an accident. It is also not an occupational disease unless it can be shown that mental stress is “characteristic” of only that employment which is normally an impossible burden. The Commission has said in the past problems associated with personnel and management are inherent in all employment.
The first exception to the above rule is if the claimant’s work is in a particularly high stress occupation it is possible for a claimant to show his or her “mental stress” is characteristic of the employment. For example, the Commission has found an emergency dispatcher was employed in an occupation where stress was characteristic of the employment.
The second exception to this rule is if the claimant has a compensable “accident” or “disease” that aggravates or causes mental stress or depression then the aggravation may be compensable. The typical example of this is the worker who has a severe injury which results in chronic pain. The pain causes depression. In that instance, the depression will compensable.
A third exception to the general rule that mental stress is not compensable is if the mental stress arises out of a single specific incident. A typical example of this would be the rescue squad worker who has to go to the scene of a horrible accident and develops a mental impairment due to the exposure to the accident. I had a case involving a school bus driver who had a student point a gun at her head and pull the trigger. The gun was not loaded but the driver developed a post traumatic stress disorder as a result of the incident and the Commission found her claim to be compensable.
In summary, even though your boss has treated you badly, harassed you and has made you go to a doctor and lose time from work, your mental stress is not compensable under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act. Also, even though you have deadlines to meet which has caused you stress, it is not compensable in Virginia. Nonetheless, you should always check with an experienced Virginia workers’ compensation attorney. Your problem may meet one of the exceptions.

If you have employees, you are responsible for paying a variety of taxes at the federal, state, and local levels. You must also withhold certain taxes from the paychecks of your employees. So, what are employment taxes?
Employment taxes include the following.
1. Federal income tax withholding
2. Social Security and Medicare taxes
3. Federal unemployment tax (FUTA).
Federal Income Taxes/Social Security and Medicare Taxes
You generally must withhold federal income tax from wages paid to an employee. Form W-4 is used to determine the specific amount, although most payroll services or your accountant will do this for you.
Social security and Medicare taxes pay for benefits that workers and families receive under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA). Social security tax pays for benefits for the retired, survivors, and disability insurance distribution provisions of FICA. Medicare tax pays for benefits under the medical care provisions of FICA. As an employer, you must withhold a percentage of these taxes from employee and match the withholding amount.
In general, you must deposit these taxes by check or cash to an authorized financial institution, typically your bank. Check with your tax professional to make sure you are not required to use the Electronic Federal Tax Deposit System (EFTPS). Regardless of the payment method, you will then report them on Form 941, the Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
FUTA is a combined federal and state program that provides unemployment compensation to the unemployed. As a business owner, you are solely responsible for paying this tax, to wit, nothing is withheld from the paychecks of your employees. FUTA is determined by using Form 940, but you are encouraged to use a tax professional to determine payment amounts.
Employment taxes can be frustrating for a small business owner. They are, unfortunately, a necessary evil as your business grows.

Congratulations! You just completed and passed the instructional driving courses and earned your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). So now that you are licensed to drive a truck, what is your next step?
Unless you have a thing about big trucks and just wanted the license to say you have it, chances are you went to school and got your CDL because you want to be a truck driver. Luckily for you, there are a number of opportunities just waiting to be found. It is up to you to find the trucking jobs that best fit your needs.
Think about why you wanted to be a trucker in the first place. Was it to see the country? The salary? Do you enjoy the driving? What kind of truck or payload do you want to haul? Writing down everything you are looking for in trucking jobs will solidify things in your mind when you start your job hunt.
There are many avenues in which to pursue trucking jobs. First of all, check your local papers - both the dailies as well as the Sunday issues which usually have an extra classified section just for employment. Often times, trucking companies in your area that are seeking qualified licensed truck drivers will advertise available positions. Keep your eyes and ears open too. Billboards are becoming more popular, with trucking companies sometimes purchasing billboard space if they are in a big hiring push. Television ads and even posters displayed at libraries and other public places are other areas to keep an eye on.
The truck driving school where you trained and earned your CDL is another avenue to pursue in your quest for trucking jobs. Often times, a trucking company will post available positions in their company through the school’s connections. So you have to remember to ask because these are not always advertised!
The internet is also a major source for trucking jobs. There are tons of employment websites that cater to helping you find a job. Most of them do not specialize in truck driving. However, with a few web searches, you can come up with some sites that do. Another internet option is researching the trucking companies themselves. Perhaps you know of a few trucking companies in your area. Look them up and see if they have trucking jobs on their website.
Searching for trucking jobs is the easy part. The hard part is determining which trucking company is the right one for you. You might have to move to a different area or travel to places that you prefer not to go. Think about those issues as well as the reputation of the trucking company and the benefits and salary. Your decision will mark the start of a new life and career for you.

When asked about the three most important qualities for someone to make it in network marketing, immensely successful networker and founding Success University member Ned Rae immediately replied ‘Attitude, Attitude and Attitude’. It’s a well-known fact in the employment world that if someone with a great attitude comes to an interview lacking a required skill or two for the job, teaching them that skill is a simple matter. If, on the other hand, they have all the right skills but the wrong attitude, you just thank them for their time, and move on to the next candidate. All the skills in the world won’t make someone who suffers from ‘Stinkin’ Thinkin” a productive employee.
So it’s not really surprising that in the world of network marketing (where we’re working for ourselves), attitude is the strongest determinant of our success. Yes, business structure, compensation plan, product and training systems are all important. But without the right attitude, they’re just tools lying unused in a tool box - they don’t end up building anything. It makes sense, then, for those of us who are new to network marketing to focus on this all-important aspect of ourselves - at least if we want to be successful. The only question is exactly what about our attitudes we should focus on. In answer, Ned had the following suggestions:
BE COACHABLE
There’s no quicker way to fail in the world of MLM than to walk into a business assuming you already know what’s going to work and what won’t. While it’s true that different people have different strengths, and different methods work better for some than for others, it’s important to remember that if it’s been done before (and it will have been - by plenty of people in your upline) it can be done again. Get alongside as many of your successful upline as you can - ask them how you can make your business work, listen to what they say, and then follow through on their suggestions. If something doesn’t seem to be working, get alongside them again, and ask them what you could be doing differently, rather than assuming the concept itself is flawed.
UNDERSTAND YOUR WHY
While there may well be people who get into network marketing because they genuinely enjoy the challenges of the sales process, most of us signed up with our chosen business because it had potential to help us achieve something big in our lives. Whether we saw the potential to provide for our families, to create a financially secure future for ourselves, or just to finally get ourselves debt-free, there was *something* in the original opportunity that inspired us to get involved - our reason ‘why’. A big part of motivating ourselves to do the work that needs to be done in network marketing is keeping this ‘why’ at the forefront of our minds, and constantly reminding ourselves that, if we want to get there, we’ve got to do what it takes.
STAY POSITIVE
Tied closely to understanding your ‘why’ is developing the ability to stay positive. Like anything else, there will be ups and downs to your business. Staying positive through the downs won’t just make you more successful in the long run - it will make life far more enjoyable while you’re getting there.
So there you have it - the three keys to developing an attitude that will lead you to success. And of course, the great thing about attitude determining your success? It’s the one thing you have complete control over. You may not be able to do anything to change your company’s business structure, compensation plan, product or training systems, but you can always change your attitude. So make a commitment to yourself. Learn what you need to learn to change what you need to change. Your success is worth it.

Nominated for six Academy Awards, and winner of Best Picture, Crash is more than deserving of the critical acclaim surrounding its release. Probing the deepest recesses of racism, prejudice, and discrimination in modern day America, the film forces viewers to examine their own tendencies to create and foster stereotypes. More importantly, it does so in a way that doesn’t accuse, blame, or pursue a political agenda. In fact, Crash even touches on the shortcomings of political correctness and how some people have allowed outside perceptions to affect personal judgment, often to their own detriment. Written and directed by Paul Haggis, author of the Million Dollar Baby screenplay, Crash is a thoughtful piece of social commentary wrapped in a storyline ripe with conflict and suspense.
Crash follows numerous characters living in and around Los Angeles as they deal with racial perceptions, prejudices, and stereotypes in their daily lives. Jean Cabot (Sandra Bullock) struggles with her inability to trust her own instincts following a car-jacking which leaves her teetering on the brink of a mental breakdown. Meanwhile, police officer John Ryan (Matt Dillon) harasses African-Americans as a result of the prejudices he developed following his father’s bankruptcy years ago. Lucien (Dato Bakhtadze) and his wife Elizabeth (Karina Arroyave) find their own biases and self-perceptions erupting to the surface of their marriage following a traumatic encounter with Officer Ryan. The consequences of Ryan’s hatred have a rippling effect, a theme which is repeated in countless other social exchanges between store owners, locksmiths, detectives, and hockey enthusiasts. In short, Crash sets out to jar its audience into recognition of the enormous consequences of racial prejudice, no matter how “minor” we may believe those attitudes may be.
The cast of Crash is superb. Don Cheadle completes his graduation from the front desk of The Golden Girls spin-off Golden Palace by turning in a second blockbuster performance within a matter of months (Hotel Rwanda would be the other). Like other characters from the film, Cheadle’s Graham is unable to fully develop due to time constraints, yet he manages to come across as a sympathetic and flawed character. The same can be said of Matt Dillon’s portrayal of Officer John Ryan. He isn’t a mere hatemonger skinhead, but rather a caring individual who developed detrimental prejudice based on past events from his childhood. In the end, like many of the film’s characters, the audience gets a glimpse of his good side.
Overall, Crash is an excellent film that lives up to the notoriety and hype. For the typical viewer, it will evoke myriad emotions - hatred of racism, loathing of man’s inhumanity to man, empathy, self-reflection, and an awareness of how one’s own prejudices may affect others. Paul Haggis brilliantly illustrates the consequences of widespread attitudes harboring racist, prejudicial, discriminatory, and stereotypical overtones. He does so without pointing fingers or assigning blame. Everyone is guilty; no race, gender, class, or ideology is spared. Crash also probes the depths of American prejudice by addressing the unintended consequences of both affirmative action and political-correctness. It’s this reluctance to strictly adhere to an ideological agenda that empowers Crash with its universal appeal. By not being preachy, the film is better able to relate its themes to viewers from every type of background and perspective. It’s an entertaining film. Hopefully, it also makes each us think twice about the way in which we relate to our fellow man. If so, then Crash is more than just a film; it’s a world-changing experience.

Appendicitis is considered to be a surgical illness. Due to its severe character, the treatment for appendicitis often involves surgical intervention. Judging by the speed of development and the gravity of the illness, appendicitis can be either acute or chronic. Acute appendicitis evolves very fast and can lead to complications. Chronic appendicitis is less serious and slower to develop. Although there are other options, the safest treatment for appendicitis is considered to be surgery.
Appendicitis occurs due to bacterial infection and obstruction of the vermiform appendix, a tube-shaped extension of the large intestine (the colon). The appendix is usually blocked by calculus or feces, causing it to swell. However, in some cases, the enlargement of the lymph nodes is responsible for the inappropriate activity of the appendix. Due to bacterial infection (also very common in appendicitis), the lymph nodes begin to swell and press against the walls of the appendix, causing it to block. The local blood circulation is also perturbed, causing the death of the appendix. The swelling of the appendix and bacterial infections can lead to serious complications, such as gangrene, sepsis and perforation of the appendix. The best option available in the treatment for appendicitis when confronted with a seriously damaged appendix is to surgically remove it from the body. The appendix doesn’t have a vital role inside the organism and its absence doesn’t affect the normal activity of the body.
The surgical treatment for appendicitis consists of a procedure called appendectomy. In uncomplicated forms of appendicitis, appendectomy is a simple surgical intervention. Most patients respond well to the surgical treatment for appendicitis and they fully recover within a few weeks after the operation. However, if the treatment for appendicitis is delayed, the chances of recovery are considerably diminished.
Appendicitis affects about 6-7 percent of the population in the United States and Europe. However, statistics indicate that in the last years the number of people diagnosed with appendicitis has considerably decreased. The development of appendicitis is facilitated by inappropriate diet. A healthy lifestyle and a diet rich in fibers can be useful in the prevention of appendicitis. Appendicitis can be developed by anyone, at any age. However, acute forms of the illness mostly occur in children and teenagers (ages 3-15) and also in older patients (ages over 50).
Despite the medical advance and the abundance of medications available nowadays, the recommended treatment for appendicitis remains appendectomy. Although in uncomplicated cases of the illness the doctors might prescribe antibiotics, the safest treatment for appendicitis is still considered to be surgery. The fact is that antibiotics and other medications can’t unblock the appendix without causing any internal damage and for this reason the most reasonable form of treatment for appendicitis is surgical intervention. If the presence of the illness is discovered in time, appendectomy is the safest option available today in the treatment for appendicitis.

I’ve got this strange friend; her name is Maria. Maria’s always been a little weird but now things have gotten unworldly altogether. You see, Maria’s an artist; she’s into sculpture in particular, of which she specializes in the manipulation of Perspex with a blowtorch. Lately I haven’t seen too much of her as she’s hooked up the Internet. Actually not many people at all have seen her recently; she says she’s working on a big project.
Now that she’s got the Internet she reckons she can focus a lot more on her work without distractions. She doesn’t ‘waste’ time doing grocery shopping anymore. Now she orders all her food and household items. She says if she’s extremely busy, her weekly list is saved into the computer, and she just clicks on ‘order’ and the usual stuff is delivered to her door every week. No more driving, parking, searching for stuff, standing in line, dealing with bored and under slept cashiers. I’m starting to think it’s not such a bad idea. Maria is pretty proud. She’s now organizing for a local greengrocer to deliver her fruit and vegetables too.
Maria has always had a ‘thing’ for Donald Duck. On the Net she’s found all these rare collectable dealers like Ebay. When she’s not warping Perspex into postmodern configurations representing the need for a more spiritual existence, she’s thriving in the consumerist world of finding and bidding for Donald Duck comic books from the 1950’s. Last I heard a friend said she’s actually starting to look like a duck herself!
All this Internet shopping is pretty new to me, it sounds like it really could help a lot of people out. However for recluse artists it could be the final straw for friends and family who may never see their buddies again! Nah, its cool-I just hope Maria’s new project isn’t a giant Perspex Donald Duck. I don’t think the world needs any more Donald Ducks!
I just got back from Maria’s place. You’re not going to believe what I saw. She was actually having a party, and I wasn’t invited. Maybe she thinks I’m boring compared to her new friends. She says she met them on the Internet, a whole bunch of people into Donald Duck! One guy was actually dressed up like Yosemite Sam-gun belt and all! It seems I’m the odd one out.
Before I left her place she showed me her new sculpture. I underestimated her newfound love. It’s a giant computer; inside it is filled with the heads of all her friends (me included). Of course none of us had human mouths, smiling duck beaks adorned all the heads, a definite sign of the Internet’s powerful influence, and of the collective warping of today’s society!
